No. 14762 rescinding Resolution No. 08- 178 as it pertains to the appointment process to the Municipal Housing Authority (Requested by Mayor Prince). In Resolution No. 08-178, the City Council asked for new legislation as to changing the appointment process to the Municipal Housing Authority. A RESOLUTION RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 08-178 AS IT PERTAINS TO THE APPOINTMENT PROCESS TO THE MUNICIPAL HOUSING AUTHORITY (REQUESTED BY MAYOR PRINCE) WHEREAS, Section 392 of the Texas Local Government Code provides for a Municipal Housing Authority; and WHEREAS, Section 392 of the Texas Local Government Code provides for the presiding officer of the governing body to appoint the Commissioners of a Housing Authority; and WHEREAS, the City Council does not desire to change this statute and further desires to rescind Resolution No. 08-178 which requested Representative Deshotel, Representative Ritter and Senator Janek to sponsor legislation which would have replaced the. presiding officer with the governing body as the entity that could make the appointments. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS: Section 1. That the facts and opinion in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That Resolution No. 08-178 is herein rescinded. z.pr 14762 ~ Section 3. That the City Secretary shall send a true and correct copy of this Resolution to Representative Ritter, Representative Deshotel, and Senator Janek. Section 4. That a copy of the .caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
