Page 1 ofl RECOMMENDATIONS: The Police Department recommends that the Port Arthur City Council reject all bids for the purchase of two ATV Vehicles for the Police Department. BACKGROUND: The Police Department advertised for bids on November 3, 2002 and November 10, 2002 for two ATV vehicles. On November 20, 2002, one bid was submitted by Athens Suzuki of Athens Texas. The single bid was higher then expected and did not meet specifications. Police will adjust the specifications and send the bids again. Police expects more participation and lower bids. Bid submitted by Athens Suzuki is stated below: Quantity Unit cost Total ATV 2 $5,740 $11,480 BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT: Funds are available and budgeted to the Police Department for this purchase and acquisition in the LLEBG 2002 Grant. STAFF/EMPLOYEE EFFECT: None SUMMARY: The Police Department recommends that the Port Arthur City Council reject all bids for the purchase of two ATV vehicles. The specifications will be reviewed, rewritten and the ATV vehicles will be placed out for bids in the near future.
