Home My WebLink AboutPR 12013:GROUNDS MAINTENANCE MEMORANDUM CITY OF PORT ARTHUR UTILITY OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT TO: Steve Fitzgibbons, City Manager FROM: Dan Shepherd, Director of Utility Operations DATE: November 27, 2002 RE: Proposed Resolution No. 12013 COMMENTS RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that the City Council award the annual contract for Utility Operations Grounds Maintenance to Sandra's Enterprises, Inc., of Port Arthur, for the total estimated amount of $21,300 ($1,065/cut) for Group F. BACKGROUND: Contractors are used to maintain the grounds at this department's lift stations, water tanks, water towers, and treatment facilities (69 total). Approximately twenty (20) cuts (maintenance events) per year are required. All areas were awarded on October 1, 2002, except Groups F and G. Group F was first bid on September 4, 2002. The lowest bidder meeting specifications was $1,250 per cut, so on October 1,2002, Council approved to reject bids and re-advertise. Group F was re-advertised including some sites from Group G. These sites, along with Group F totaled $1,035 last year. Seventeen (17) bid packets were sent out and three (3) vendors submitted bids on this group, which were received on November 13, 2002. Last year's contracts awarded for Grounds Maintenance for Group F, along with the newly added sites from Group G, was $1,035. The current bids reflect a 2.9% increase from last year. SUMMARY: The Iow bid for Group F meets the requirements of the advertised specifications and is therefore recommended for approval.
