HomeMy WebLinkAboutPR 12015:EMERGENCY GENERATOR MEMORANDUM CITY OF PORT ARTHUR UTILITY OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT TO: Steve Fitzgibbons, City Manager FROM: Daniel Shepherd, Director of Utility Operations DATE: December 2, 2002 SUBJECT: Proposed Resolution No. 12015 COMMENTS RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 12015 accepting a Certificate of Completion, Certificate of Guarantee roi' the installation of an emergency generator at the City of Port Arthur's water treatment plant and approving final payment of $12,272.91. BACKGROUND: In June of 2002 the City Counci! approved and a~varded this project to Simco Enterprises, Ltd. for $125,876. The contract is £or the installation ofan emergency generator at the water treatment plant. The engineer has certified completion and recommended final payment of $12,272.91 (including release ofretainage). The final contract amount is $125,876. This generator enables the water treatment units to continue operating during power outages. BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT: Funds for this final payment are available in account no. 427-1626-532.85-00, Project No. 427001. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF THE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION, CONTRACTOR'S CERTIFICATE AND RELEASE AND CONTRACTOR'S'CERTIFICATE OF GUARANTEE ON THE INSTALLATION OF AN EMERGENCY GENERATOR AT THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT AND APPROVING FINAL PAYMENT OF $12,272.91 TO SIMCO ENTERPRISES, LTD., AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN THE CERTIFICATE OF ACCEPTANCE ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS, FUND NO. 427-1626-532.85-00, PROJECT NO. 427001. WHEREAS, the City has received a Certificate of Completion, dated November 18, 2002, from Galewsky and Johnston Consulting Engineers, Inc., copy attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit "A", together with a Contractor's Certificate of Release (Exhibit B) and a Contractor's Certificate of Guarantee (Exhibit C), and executed by Jerry Youngblood, Vice President of Simco Enterprises, Ltd., copies attached hereto and made a part hereof, certifying that the project has been completed; and, WHEREAS, it has been recommended by Galewsky and Johnston Consulting Engineers, Inc. that final payment should be made to Simco Enterprises, Ltd., in the amount of Twelve Thousand Two Hundred Seventy~two and 91/100 Dollars ($12,272.91); NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT, the City Manager of the City of Port Arthur is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of Port Al~thur, a Certificate of Acceptance for the installation of an emergency generator at the water treatment plant, attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit "D"; and, THAT, the final contract amoant is One Hundred Twenty-five Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy-six and 00/100 Dollars ($125,876.00); and, P.R.
