RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Police Department recommends that the Port Arthur City Council award the bid for twelve
2003 Police Patrol Vehicles to Philpott Ford, Nederland, Texas in the amount of $289,752.00.
BACKGROUND:
Police Patrol Vehicles are removed from the Police Department fleet upon acquiring high
mileage, extensive repair history and/or needing excessive repairs. This purchase will allow the
Police Department fleet to place in auction 12 such patrol vehicles. The new vehicles were bid
fully equipped except for the radios. Equipment includes: lightbar, siren, controls, decals,
consoles, protective screens and shotgun racks.
Bids were received from the following venders:

We attempted to obtain pricing from BuyBoard for identically equipped patrol vehicles.
Buyboard could only price unequipped vehicles.
BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT:
Funds are available and budgeted in the Equipment Replacement Fund Account 625-1801~
521.93 in the amount of $306,000.00 for this purchase.
