McNahen, P.E., Director of Public Works P.R. #12023 December 4, 2002 RECOM MEN DAT~ON It is recommended that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 12023, authorizing the Mayor and City Manager to execute a contract in the amount not to exceed $40,800 between the City of Port Arthur and The LaBiche Architectural Group, Inc. of Beaumont, Texas for the re-roofing of the City of Port Arthur Health Department facility. Funding is available in FY 2003 Budget, Account No. 301-1601-591.82-00, CIP 170. BACKGROUND ~ Since the roof at the City of Port Arthur Health Department Facility has leaked on several occasions, and in order to prevent any further damage to the interior of the building, The LaE~iche Architectural Group has been asked to prepare plans and specifications and provide construction phase services for the re-roofing of the Health Department facility. They have proposed a fee of $38,000 for Basic Services and $2,800 for Additional Services/Reimbursables for a total fee not to exceed $40,800. The City chose a coal tar built-up roof with gravel surface as the preferred replacement system at an estimated cost of $380,000. BUDGETARY/FISCAL EFFECT Funds are available in FY 2003 Account No. 301-1601-591.82-00, CTP 170. STAFFTNG/EMPLOYEE EFFECT None. WHEREAS, due to persistent roof leaks at the Health Department facility, the City of Port Arthur desires to replace the exisUng roof; and, WHEREAS, a coal tar built-up roof with gravel surface is the replacement system of choice; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHU~ TEXAS: THAT the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with The LaBiche Architectural Group, 1'nc. of Beaumont, Texas for plans, specifications and construction phase services for re-roofing of the City of Port Arthur Health Department facility, as shown as Exhibit "A" attached in part hereto and made a part hereof; and, THAT the amount of said contract is not to exceed $40,800, being comprised of $38,000 for Basic Services and $2,800 for Additional Services/Reimburseables; and, THAT funding for said contract is available in the FY 2003 Budget Account No. 301-1601~591.82-00, CIP 170; and P.R.
