HomeMy WebLinkAbout(1) National Dislocated Worker Program Presentation National Dislocated Worker Program City of Port Arthur 1 Overview The National Dislocated Worker (NDW) program, funded by Disaster Grants, is provided as a basis to ensure an effective workforce investment system response to create temporary employment opportunities to assist with clean up and humanitarian efforts in the Southeast Texas area. This program assists individuals who have lost employment due to a natural disaster. 2 3 Ndw employees Responsibilities Cutting, pruning and trimming trees out of the street Removing completely rotted trees Cutting, stacking and mulching trees and debris Cleaning out inlets Picking up litter replacing damaged street signs Costs Areas Approximately $8,000 has been spent Small equipment Ppe maintenance Behind civic center Austin and proctor street 19th street to 4th street Savannah avenue going north and south to 9th avenue Various areas around the city See map 4 Map of Areas 5 NDW Employees First employee started December 15, 2020 Classification of Maintenance Worker I Hourly Rate of $15.87 PARKS AND RECREATION (1,715 HOURS) Public works (1,661 hours) As of 2/26/2021, TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION HAS PAID approximately $55,227.60 in WAGES *If hired through a staffing agency it would cost the City approximately $72,662.40 6 Program Accomplishments El Paso and 6th Street 1100 8th Avenue West Foley & 8th Street West Thomas Boulevard Mulch Sign Making 7 Program Accomplishments 2 ½ Months Picked up 14.3 cubic yards of litter Saved the City approximately $72,662.40 City Departments continue to work together as a team SKILL DEVELOPMENT 8
