HomeMy WebLinkAboutPR 21842: CHANGE ORDER #2 FOR REPAIR OF SEVEN P-UMP STATIONS IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,404.57 ,10 City of - ' m ' ort rthu _ Texas www.PortArthurTx.gov INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM Date: March 9, 2021 To: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Through: Ron Burton, Interim City Manager Kandy Daniel, Interim Finance Director From: Clifton Williams, Purchasing Manager RE: P.R. 21842—Change Order#2 for Repair of Seven Pump Stations in the amount of$11,404.57 Introduction: The intent of this agenda item is for City Council's approval of Change Order #2 to Triangle Rotating Equipment Specialist(TRES) in the amount of$11,404.57 for Repairs to Seven Pump Stations. Background: On February 18, 2020, City Council awarded TRES the contract to repair seven Pump Stations for the amount of$655,581.97 with Resolution 20-051.We submitted to the contractor in phases. The lst phase consisted of 3 of the pump stations with totaled $143,522.97. Resolution 20-211 was a change order in the amount of$7,211 for Gulfway Underpass Pump Station in Phasel. Phase 2 is the El Vista Pump station which was awarded for $151,000. Once work began to repair this pump station, it was determined it was better to replace one motor and pump rather than repair it. That was awarded with Resolution 20-433 to Precision Pump. While the City was procuring the new pump and motor, the contractor placed temporary rental pumps so the Pump Station will be operable especially during storm season.Change Order number 2 is the additional cost to rent pumps over a six-month period, and the subtraction of repair for the one pump and motor. Recommendation: It is recommended that the City of Port Arthur City Council approve PR 21842 authorizing the Change Order#2 with TRES of Orange, TX in the amount of$11,404.57. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 TO THE CONTRACT WITH TRIANGLE ROTATING EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST OF ORANGE, TEXAS FOR PHASE 2, IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,404.57 FOR DELETION OF REPAIR SERVICES AND ADDITION OF PUMP RENTALS AT EL VISTA PUMP STATION FOR A NEW CONTRACT TOTAL OF $674,197.74. FUNDING IN HURRICANE HARVEY ACCOUNT NO. 147-2300-901.84-00, PROJECT NO. 082617 WHEREAS, on February 18, 2020 per Resolution No. 20-051, the City Council approved a contract with Triangle Rotating Equipment Specialist (TRES) of Orange, Texas for the repair of seven (7) drainage pump stations, for a total of $655,581.97; and, WHEREAS, the seven (7) locations were given out in three (3) phases and TRES is currently in Phase 2 which totals $151,000 for El Vista Pump Station; and, WHEREAS, Change Order #1 for $7,211.20 for Phase 1 was awarded with Resolution 20-211 on June 23, 2020; and, WHEREAS, Change Order #2 is an additional cost of $11,404.57; totaling $162,404.57 for Phase 2 and a new total of $674,197.74 for all seven locations. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That, the City Council herein authorizes Change Order No. 2 with Triangle Rotating Equipment Specialist of Orange, Texas, for Phase 2 in the amount of $11,404.57, a copy of the Change Order is attached hereto as Exhibit "A". Section 3. That, a copy of this caption be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council. Increase due to rental of pump while waiting for new pump and motor.
