Re= City - PAISD Ubrary Cooperative Program
I have had two meetings with Memorial 9"~ Grade Campus Pdndple, Mr. Ba~ste. At our meeting
today we agreed to begin the after school hours at the 9th Grade Campus Library next Monday,
January 27. Plans at present are for the extended houm to run on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday was not included at present due to pussibie intederence of church
actNities. The option was left open to include Wednesday at a future lime and, possibly, k} add anc/~ner
hour to the schedule one or mom nights per week.
Mr. Bapliste and the Campus Librarian, Mrs. DeBlanc, are pmpadng a proposal which will include
some of th,~c details, oullining program measurement, eveJu~on, publidty, and projected costs (set
initially at $30 per day) to include a librarian or teacher arid an aide. Mr. Baptiste feels that two persons
are required to adequately provide the combination of secudty and service that will make the program
successful. I agree.
I would like to set this program in moron and observe for two or three v~?,s before beginning another
campus. I plan to set up a meeting next week with Mrs. Edna Edwards, Principle at the Stephen F.
Austin Campus. I hope to pattern a plan there on the one we finally ado~ for the 9t~ Grade Campus.
We will also be working with Sabine Pass lSD to implement the program in their new library.
Additional details, along wi~ the program plan and statistics for the 9~ Grade Campus, will be
submitted by the end of February.
