McMahen, P.E., Director of Public Works DATE: 3anuary 21, 2003 SUB.1ECT: Hike and Bike Trail Only one bid was received on 1/15/03 for the Hike and Bike Trail project, and only three contractors attended the pre-bid meeting. The only bid was from Simco Enterprises of Groves, Texas, who is one of the Elliot/Canoma companies. Their bid was for 5274,593.55 which is nearly twice the available CIP budget of 5139,000 and the engineer's estimate, and the project has already undergone a reduction in the odginal scope. The maximum participatiOn by the State will still be only 580,000, giving us only about 5219,000 total.
