Introduction: The intent of this Agenda is for the City Council to authorize the City Manager to repair D6N (unit 1896) Dozer for the landfill by Mustang Cat of Beaumont, Texas in the projected amount of$75,500.00. Background: The City of Port Arthur landfill requires at a minimum 3 dozers to function correctly. The City of Port Arthur owns the following four (4) dozers: Caterpillar D8 Dozer, Caterpillar D7R Dozer, Caterpillar D7E Dozer and a Caterpillar D6N Dozer. For the landfill to function smoothly, without violations and to serve the citizens of Port Arthur efficiently, the landfill needs the D8, D7R and D7E to move trash and excess dirt within the working face and have the D6N, a smaller dozer, to cover the trash with dirt. The smaller dozer is used to cover dirt on trash because it is more efficient in spreading the dirt over the trash. The landfill utilizes two (2) (D8 & D7E) dozers for operations and keeps the third (D7R) as back-up if/when the dozer breaks down for repairs. Currently two dozers are down for repairs. They are the D7R and the D6N. The D7R is scheduled for a rebuild and will take approximately two (2) months to be operational. Repairing the D6N is essential for the operation of the landfill. And Mustang Cat submitted a quote to repair the D6N for a total cost of$75,500.00. This D6N needs to be replaced and PW-Landfill will be requesting replacing this equipment for the next "Remember,we are here to serve the Citizens of Port Arthur" 444 4ih Street X Port Arthur,Texas 77641-1089 X 409.983.8182 X FAX 409.983.8294 fiscal year. This existing D6N will be ideal as a back-up equipment for the spreading dirt if and when our smaller dozers goes down for repairs. Budget Impact: Funds are available in Landfill / Equipment Maintenance, Account number 403-50-320- 5318-00-00-000- Recommendation: Approval of P. R. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2 . That the City Manager is authorized to repair the D6N (Unit 1896) Dozer for the landfill by Mustang Cat of Beaumont, Texas in the projected amount of $75, 500. 00 being subject to final approval by the City Council . Section 3 . That a copy of the Resolution shall be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council. READ, ADOPTED AND APPROVED on this day of A.
