BACKGROUND… March 2021 –Application for specific use permitsubmittedtoPlanningDivision. A public hearing was held by the Planning andZoningCommissionforMay17,2021,at 5:30 p.m. Public Notice was mailed and published in the Port Arthur Newspaper. The Planning Commission voted 4:0 recommending approval of said request. On May 11,2021,City Council approved Resolution No.21-191,calling for a public hearing. Notification was mailed to adjacent property owners,as well as published in the Port Arthur Newspaper. CURRENT/PROPOSED ZONING… Current Zoning: Multiple Family (MF) –provides for medium-to-high-density housing in multiple- family structures and their directly related complementary and accessory uses. Proposed Zoning: Multiple Family (MF) with Specific Use Permit #238 –authorizing an additional land use on a specific piece of property, but not to change the underlying zoning of the land. ZONING… SITE LOCATION… PUBLIC COMMENT… Public Notices were mailed to twelve (12)property owners within a 200 feet radius of the proposed site and published in the Port Arthur Newspaper on the following dates: •April 24, 2021 (P&Z Commission) •Written Opposition: 0 •Verbal Opposition: 0 •May 22, 2021 (City Council) •Written Opposition: 0 •Verbal Opposition: 1 (before public hearing)
