Whether its increased flow capacity, increased retention and detention, or diversion, or if it is the scientific support necessary to establish appropriate building restrictions and guidelines to protect the City’s business owners and homeowners, the MDP is a critical component to the City’s intermediate and long-term planning and development. Port Arthur Disaster Recovery Update City Council –June 2021 (BRIC APPLICATION) Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities 75% -25% (4.22M/1.4M) The City of Port Arthur's Main WWTP needs addition of a new cloth media filtration system to replace the existing failed stormwater clarifier. The City of Port Arthur has already acquired the funding for the planning and design of improvements to the Main WWTP which includes the proposed AquaStormTM cloth media filtration system and associated pump station through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) loan program from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB). The BRIC application is to acquire the construction funding for the AquaStormTM cloth media filtration system and associated pump station for City of Port Arthur's Main WWTP. This BRIC project will allow the plant to efficiently and effectively handle wet weather flows, maintain compliance with the permit limits and protect the water quality of the Sabine-Neches canal into which the plant discharges its effluent.
