Treatment Plant Administration Building

RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 14969, authorizing Change
Order 01 to the contract with Brammer Construction, Inc. for completing the construction of the
Wastewater Treatment Plant administration building, increasing the project amount by $735 to a
new total of $49,155.
BACKGROUND:
The City Council previously executed a contract with Brammer to finish the construction of the
Wastewater Treatment Plant administration building. This building was so severely damaged by
Hurricane Rita that it had to be demolished, but the project was not completed by the original
contractor. The amount of this contract was for $48,420. This change order is to compE~nsate for
additional and unexpected materials that were not apparent until after the project was started.
BUDGETARY/FISCAL EFFECT:
Funding is available in Proj HRWWTP, 123-2300-901.82-00.
EMPLOYEE/STAFF EFFECT:
None.
SUMMARY

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
CHANGE ORDER 01 TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OAF
PORT ARTHUR AND BRAMMEF'. CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR
COMPLETING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE WASTEWATER
TREATMENT PLANT ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, INCREASING
THE CONTRACT AMOUNT BY $735 TO A NEW TOTAL OF $49,15:5.

WHEREAS, on September 9, 2008,, the City entered into a contract wit;h
Brammer Construction, Inc. for completing of the construction of the Wa;stewatE~r
Treatment Plant administration building in the amount of $48,420; and,
WHEREAS, Brammer has requested Change Order 01 in the amount of $73!5,
attached hereto as Exhibit "A"due to additional and unexpected materials that ~Nere not
apparent until after the project was started; and,
WHEREAS, approval of Change Order No. 01 in the amount of $735 in~creasirig
the contract to a new amount of $49,155, is herein deemed an appropriate action; no~v,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY' COUNCIL OF THE CITY 01= PORT
ARTHUR:
THAT, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and,
THAT, Change Order 01 is herein approved and the City Manager is authorized
to execute said Change Order; and,
THAT, a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of
the City Council.

No other Terms of Conditions of the CONTRACT are changed as a result of this;
