Nature of the request:
Purchasing Division is requesting the sale of damaged register/transmitters.
Staffing Analysis, Considerations:
None
Recommendation:
Purchasing is requesting that City Council approve PO No. 6979 authorizing the sale of the above-
mentioned units due to the damages sustained from Hurricane Harvey. Quotes were received for a
contractor to dispose of the damaged equipment, but we received interest from citizens to buy the
items. We would like to bid out the sale of these items. If we are unable to sell the
registers/transmitters,we will have a contractor dispose of the equipment.

ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF
REGISTER/TRANSMITTER UNITS
WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur has updated the damaged register/transmitters from
the Hurricane Harvey; and
WHEREAS, quotes were received to dispose of the register/transmitters; and
WHEREAS, some citizens have expressed interest in purchasing the registers/transmitters;
and
WHEREAS,the City has decided to sell the registers/transmitters by formal bid; and
WHEREAS, the City will pay for the disposal of the transmitters/receivers if they are
unable to be sold; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. The facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
Section 2. That the City Council authorizes the City Manager, together with the
Purchasing Manager, pursuant to Article XIV, Section 7 of the Charter of the City of Port Arthur,
to sell said the transmitter/receivers (Exhibit"A").
Section 2. That the City Manager, together with the Purchasing Manager are hereby
authorized and empowered to execute and deliver all proceeds to the correct general fund account.
Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Ordinance be spread upon the Minutes of
the City Council.
READ, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED, this day of July, AD, 2021, at a
Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, by the following vote:
