AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE II (PERSONNEL POLICY) BY ADDING SECTION 78-272 - EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCILMEMBERS (REQUESTED BY MAYOR BARTIE) WHEREAS, the Code of Ordinances establishes limits and regulations for the use of City funds by officials elected and appointed; and WHEREAS, in order effectively administer the policy, the City Council desires to amend Chapter 78 to add Section 78-272 to provide an education program for the Mayor and City Councilmembers. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and cor-ect. Section 2. That Section 78-269 of the Code of Ordinances be amended as denoted in the attached "Exhibit A." Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be effective immediately. Section 4. That a copy of the caption of this Ordinance be spread upoi the minutes of the City Council. Tizeno, ity Attorney APPROVED FOR ADMINISTRATION: Ronald Burton, City Manager s.po6980 EXHIBIT "A" Sec. 78-272. — Education Program For Mayor and City Councilmembers The Mayor and City Councilmembers are allowed to participate in certain municipal education courses such as webinars, online seminars, etc. based upon the following criteria: (a) The education course must be related to a municipal purpose that facilitates the duties of a member of the governing body and the functioning of city government. (b) The course must not require any travel. (c) A report showing completion of the course must be submitted to the City Secretary. (d) The allotted budget per Councilmember is $200 per fiscal year. Authorization beyond $200 requires prior City Council authorization. s.po6980
