No. 22059 authorizing the City Manager to enter into a partnership with Sparkling Ice for the Sparkling Ice's 2021 Cheers to You Town Beautification Program for the basketball court, hoops, goal posts, swings and picnic tables at Bryan Park. Background: Sparkling Ice's Cheers to You Town Beautification Program launched in 2020 to give back and celebrate small towns across the country. Through the beautification program, Sparkling Ice's goal is to execute community-driven programs that engage consumers and create feel-good moments of positivity and celebration for each town partner. Sparkling Ice has selected Port Arthur as one of its town partners to provide enhancements to Bryan Park located at 1000 Gulfway Drive. Sparkling Ice proposes to fund the refurbishment of the basketball court inclusive of new hoops and goal posts, supplying a brand new set of swings in addition to picnic tables and benches. Budget Impact: None Recommendation: It is recommended that the City Council approve P.R.No. 22059 authorizing the City Manager to enter into a partnership with Sparkling Ice for the Sparkling Ice's 2021 Cheers to You Town Beautification Program for the basketball court, hoops, goal posts, swings and picnic tables at Bryan Park. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A PARTNERSHIP WITH SPARKLING ICE FOR THE SPARKLING ICE'S 2021 CHEERS TO YOU TOWN BEAUTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR THE BASKETBALL COURT, HOOPS, GOAL POSTS, SWINGS AND PICNIC TABLES AT BRYAN PARK WHEREAS, Sparkling Ice's Cheers to You Town Beautification Program launched in 2020 to give back and celebrate small towns across the country; and, WHEREAS, Sparkling Ice proposes to partner with the City of Port Arthur to fund the refurbishment of the basketball court inclusive of new hoops and goal posts, supplying a brand- new set of swings in addition to picnic tables and benches at Bryan Park; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the City Council authorizes a partnership with Sparkling Ice for the Sparkling Ice's Cheers to You Beautification Program for the refurbishment of the basketball court inclusive of new hoops and goal posts, brand new set of swings in addition to picnic tables and benches at Bryan Park as delineated in the information attached hereto as Exhibit"A". There will not be a cost for the City. Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council. This year for the 2021 program, Sparkling Ice has selected Port Arthur, TX as one of three town partners. CD Port Arthur's community partnership will include the following: Q 1/ One community project funded by Sparkling Ice Do Sparkling Ice will provide a permanent sign that can be set up at the project's location, commemorating the Cheers to You campaign partnership ✓ Unveiling Event/Celebration for the community/town (aligned with COVID-19 protocols) o ✓ Media relations campaign (supported by SW Public Relations) Proposal for Port Arthur,TX Sparkling Ice proposes to partner with Port Arthur, Texas to fund a new basketball court and playground o area at Bryan Park, located on one of the city's major streets.This two in one project will include a refurbishment of the basketball court inclusive of new hoops and goal posts, supplying a brand new set of o swings in additions to picnic tables and benches. 5WPR and Sparkling Ice will be handling all logistics with each project vendor and work alongside the Port Arthur parks and recreation department to complete the project. To celebrate the new park area, Sparkling Ice will host an official "unveiling" with a celebratory ribbon N cutting ceremony. At the event,we'll coordinate a round of speeches given by Sparkling Ice executives and town officials, highlighting the partnership between Port Arthur and Sparkling Ice. 5WPR will reach out to local media to attend this event,to feature the partnership in post-event coverage stories.
