BACKGROUND The Water Purification-Plant utilizes three auxiliary power generators to provide electrical power in case of outages: These generators are 10 years old and are in need of maintenance. This maintenance includes changing the oil, batteries & chargers, flushing the coolant,-steam cleaning engines & radiators, and changing deteriorated hoses & belts. Due to the age and use of this equipment, we will budget a preventive maintenance contract for next year. This type program will include routine maintenance, as well as reduce the costs of major repairs when needed. Stewart & Stevenson, of Houston, is the closest vendor_ capable of performing this specialty type of work. BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT Funds are available in the operating budget account No. 410-1252-532.42-00 STAFFINGIEMPLOYEE EFFECT None. SUMMARY We recommend authorization of payment forrepairs to three generators located at the Water Purification Plant to Stewart & Stevenson in the total amount of $17,348.07.
