Home My WebLink AboutPR 22132: PURCHASE OF 2021 CHEVY TAHOE POLICE UNIT - MENTAL HEALTH OFFICER City of ort rthur'r� Texas www.PortArthurTx.gov INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM Date: September 9, 2021 To: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Through: Ronald Burton, City Manager From: Timothy Duriso, Chief of Police RE: PR 22132—Purchase of 2021 Chevy Tahoe Police Unit- Mental Health Officer Introduction: The intent of this Agenda Item is to seek the City Council's approval for the City Manager to purchase a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Vehicle from Lake Country Chevrolet,through Goodbuy Cooperative Purchasing Contract number 21-8F00 in the amount of$40,980.70. Background: Pursuant to Resolution number 19-396,the city of Port Arthur entered into an inter-local cooperative agreement with Spindletop Center(MHMR) to participate in the Mental Health Liason Program. Under Section VI. Titled"Payment"of that agreement, Spindletop agreed to pay the city of Port Arthur for equipment utilized by the Mental Health Officer to include a vehicle, standard vehicle equipment, and annual fuel cost once additional funding became available to Spindletop Center. The Spindletop Center has been awarded $52,505.00 in FY2021 budget to use in the purchase of a new police vehicle and standard vehicle equipment for the Port Arthur Police Department Mental Health Officer. The vehicle will be an unmarked patrol unit and will be equipped with all of the accessories as necessary for day to day functioning as an unmarked patrol unit. Should both parties terminate the cooperative agreement,the purchased patrol unit will remain with the Port Arthur Police Department. Budget Impact: Funds for this purchase are available in account number 625-19-047-8523-00-00-000. Once the vehicle is purchased Spindletop Center(MHMR)will reimburse the City of Port Arthur for the purchase of that patrol unit. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: P.R. No. 22132 JLH 9-9-2021 Section 1 . That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct . Section 2 . That the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to purchase a 2021 Chevy Tahoe vehicle from Lake Country Chevrolet through Goodbuy Cooperative Purchasing Contract No. 21-8F00 in the amount of 40, 980 . 70 .
