ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING JUDGES,
ALTERNATE JUDGES AND CLERKS FOR THE
GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD MAY 3, 2003.
WHEREAS Pursuant to Article Ill, Section 4. of the City Charter, "AJ elections sna be in
accordance with the laws of the State of Texas 'egulating the holding of munic~oa elections anc in
accordance with the ordinances adopted by the Council for the conduct of elections. The Council shall
appoint the Election Judges and other Election Officials and shall provide for their compensation in the City
elections, and for all other expenses of holding such elections."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ARTHUR, TEXAS:
Section 1.
Section 2.
That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
There are hereby appointed the Judges, Altemate Judges and Clerks shown on
Exhibit "A" and Exhibit "B" attached hereto and made a part hereof for the May 3, 2003 General Election.
Section 3. If neither Presiding nor Alternate Judge cannot serve, and there is no time for the
City Council to meet to fill the vacancy in the normal manner, an emergency appointment may be made for
the May 3, 2003 General Election by the City Secretary.
Section 4. This being an Ordinance not requiring publication, it shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
Section 5. That a copy of the caption of this Ordinance be spread upon the Minutes of the
City Council.
READ, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this day of March, A.D., 2003, at a Regular
Meeting of the City Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, by the following vote:
