This property was originally purchased for $2,224.80 from Helen Haney for new conssrucslon activities. This proper5y is vacans. No. 5327 04/01/03 bf ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A SPECIAL WARRANTY DEED OF PROPERTY TO BEAUMONT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, INC. WHEREAS, Beaumont Habitat for Humanity, Inc. was chartered as a Texas non-profit corporation to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to iow and moderate income families; and, WHEREAS, Section 272.001(g) of the Local Government Code provides that a municipality may convey land to an entity for the development of iow or moderate income housing provided that the conveyance serves a public purpose. WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to convey the property delineated in Exhibit "A~ to Beaumont Habitat for Humainty, Inc. THAT, this conveyance is hereby authorized and shall be subject to the following conditions: 1. The sale price shall be One ($1.00) Dollar. 2. Beaumont Habitat for Humanity, Inc. shall hold title to the lot up to and until the construction of the house. It shall at this time transfer title to the homebuyer at no cost. 3. Should the unit not be constructed, property shall revert back to the City. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. true and correct. Section 2. That the City Council herein authorizes the City Manager to convey the property listed in Exhibit "A" to Beaumont Habitat for Humanity, Inc. for the purposes as delineated in the Low and Moderate Income Homebuyers Assistance Program and in substantially the same form as delineated in Exhibit "B". Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
