O. 5322 amending the Election Order for the General Election of May 3, 2003 and declaring unopposed the candidate elected for District 6, and deleting the Sabine Pass Port Authority as a participant in the Joint Election. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ELECTION ORDER FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION OF MAY 3, 2003 AND DECLARING UNOPPOSED THE CANDIDATE ELECTED FOR DISTEICT 6, AND DELETING THE SABINE PASS PORT AUTHORITY AS A PARTICIPANT ELECTION IN THE JOINT WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 03-005, the City ordered the May 3, 2003 general election for the purpose of electing councilmembers from Districts 5 and 6, with the Election Order as delineated in Exhibit ~A# with the polling places as delineated in Exhibit ~B"; and. WHEREAS; there is only one candidate for District 6 - Ronald Hughes Thompson, as denoted in the City Secretary's Certification attached as Exhibit ~C"; and WHEREAS, no write-in candidates have been declared for this position; and WHEREAS, the City Council will declare the unopposed candidate elected and will cancel the election for this position pursuant to Section 2.052 and 2.053 Texas Election Code; and WHEREAS, the candidates for the Sabine Pass Port Authority are unopposed the joint election; and WHEREAS, sabine Pass (Exhibit "D") and will not be included in IndePendent School District will also be submitting a proposition on a $1,850,000 bond election, as denoted in Exhibit ~E" wi~h the same election officers, clerks, judges, and early voting ballot board as designated by the City of Port Arthur; Z .po5322 and the WHEREAS, the City will therefore hold a joint election with Port Arthur Independent School District, the Sabine Pass Independent School District and the Port of Port Arthur.
