AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ELECTION ORDER FOR
THE GENERAL ELECTION OF MAY 3, 2003 AND
DECLARING UNOPPOSED THE CANDIDATE ELECTED FOR
DISTEICT 6, AND DELETING THE SABINE PASS PORT
AUTHORITY AS A PARTICIPANT
ELECTION
IN THE JOINT
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 03-005, the City ordered
the May 3, 2003 general election for the purpose of electing
councilmembers from Districts 5 and 6, with the Election Order as
delineated in Exhibit ~A# with the polling places as delineated in
Exhibit ~B"; and.
WHEREAS; there is only one candidate for District 6 - Ronald
Hughes Thompson, as denoted in the City Secretary's Certification
attached as Exhibit ~C"; and
WHEREAS, no write-in candidates have been declared for this
position; and
WHEREAS, the City Council will declare the unopposed candidate
elected and will cancel the election for this position pursuant to
Section 2.052 and 2.053 Texas Election Code; and
WHEREAS, the candidates for the Sabine Pass Port
Authority are unopposed
the joint election; and
WHEREAS, sabine Pass
(Exhibit "D") and will not be included in
IndePendent School District will also be
submitting a proposition on a $1,850,000 bond election, as denoted
in Exhibit ~E" wi~h the same election officers, clerks, judges, and
early voting ballot board as designated by the City of Port Arthur;

WHEREAS, the City will therefore hold a joint election with
Port Arthur Independent School District, the Sabine Pass
Independent School District and the Port of Port Arthur.

I, Oscar G. Ortiz, Mayor of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, as authorized
by the City Council, do hereby Order and give Notice of a General Election to be
held in the City of Port Arthur, Texas, cn Saturday, May 3, 2003, between the
hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., for the purpose of electing Councilmembers for
Districts 5 and 6. The term cf office cf the Ccu.ncilmembers from Districts 5
6 will be for three (3) years and until their respective successor shall have
been elected and duly qualified, c~ndidates may file an application with the
City Secretary for a place on the baltct beginning on February 17, 2003 through
March 19, 2003.
Said election shall be by Electronic voting System as provided in Secticn
123.001 of the Election Code. The location of each pclling place is shown cn
E~ibit "B". Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday
at the following locations between the hcurs cf 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

ORDER AND NOTICE OF A GENERAL ELECTION
IN THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS
I, Oscar G. Ortiz, Mayor of the C~ty of Port Arthur, Texas, as anthortzed by the C~ty Councd, do hereby Order
and give Notice of a General Election to be held in the City of Port Arthur, Texas, on Saturday, May 3, 2003, between
the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., for the purpose of electing a Councilmember for District 5. The term of office of
the Councilmember from District 5 will be for three (3) years and until his/her respective successor shall have been
elected and duly qualified. Candidates may file an application with the City Secretary for a place on the ballot beginning
on February 17, 2003 through March 19, 2003.
Said election shall be by Electronic Voting System as provided in Section 123.001 of the Election Code. The
locaunn of each polling place is show~ on Exhibit "B". Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each
