This Agenda Item intends to provide non-monetary support for Digital Workforce Academy,
Inc.'s application to the Economic Development Administration.
Background:
Digital Workforce Academy, Inc. will apply for$2.5 million to expand its services.
Budget Impact:
No impact on the budget.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that City Council approve P. R. # 22214.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION FOR NON-MONETARY SUPPORT OF DIGITAL
WORKFORCE ACADEMY,INC.'S APPLICATION TO THE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION (OPPORTUNITY NUMBER: EDA-
2021-ARPAEAA) FOR$2.5 MILLION
WHEREAS,the Digital Workforce Academy, Inc. (DWA)is located at 617 Procter Street
and provides job training services and small business incubator office space for underserved
communities and start-up businesses in the Port Arthur area; and,
WHEREAS, DWA will submit an application for $2.5 million to the Economic
Development Administration (EDA) to expand its current services and to renovate the adjacent
building(formerly known as the Kress Building); and,
WHEREAS,the expansion will allow DWA to increase its office space, retail space, and
job and business support training capacity; and,
WHEREAS, DWA is requesting non-monetary support from the City of Port Arthur.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
Section 2. That it is in the best interest of the City of Port Arthur to support the Digital
Workforce Academy Inc.'s application to the Economic Development Administration
(Opportunity Number: EDA-202 1-AR PAEAA).
Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of
the City Council.
