Background… July 20, 2021 –Application for zoning change submitted to the Planning Division. September 3, 2021 –Public Notice published in Port Arthur Newspaper/notification sent to adjacent property owners within 200 ft. A public hearing was held by the Planning and Zoning Commission on September 20, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. The Planning Commission voted 3:0 -recommending approval of said request. On September 21, 2021, City Council approved Res. No. 21- 280, calling for a public hearing. October 27, 2021, Notification was mailed to adjacent property owners, and published in the Port Arthur Newspaper On October 23, 2021. Current/Proposed Zoning… Current Zoning: Single-Family (SF)–is created to protect neighborhoods for SF residences which precluded uses which would adversely affect residential areas. Proposed Zoning: Industrial District –(I) –To provide a location for manufacturing activities of all permitted types in areas free of unregulated encroachment by housing.
