This grant consist of 1 (one) Standard Mobile Lab. This lab contains 24 (twenty-four) Toshiba laptop computers. I have applied for these laptop computers to be incorporated in TEEN COURT sessions. It is my desire and those working with TEEN COURT, that we will have the ability to have our court sessions linked with other courts across the country. This web conference will allow the other courts to view our process as well as giving us insight on the verdict. There are four structural models for youth courts. We anticipate being linked with at least forty youth courts throughout the United States. ACTIVITIES OF SUPPORT We have twenty computer literate participants and forty-five volunteers. We have solicited and received assistance from the Information Manager with the City of Port Arthur. We are in the process of developing a web site. COLLABORATIONS The collaboration we have formed are as follows: Charles & Associates--Counseling, Boys and Girls Club, Ventures Youth Organization, Port Arthur Housing Authority, Port Arthur Independent School District, Stillwell Technical Center, Salvation Army--Port, Trinity Baptist Church and Harvest Time Bible Church, MANAGEMENT Court Coordinator has a degree as a Legal Assistant with ten years of office experience. Court Judge is an Assistant District Attorney with Jefferson County's District Attorney's office, with eight years of service. Court clerk has an Associate degree in Office Administration with more that ten years service with the City of Port Arthur. EVALUATION The objective in our evaluation process is to receive data from the different types of youth court settings that wilt have rendered a verdict in our on-line cases, to show that the punishment process should be more unified across the country. BUDGET AND SUSTAINABILITY TEEN COURT-Port Arthur has been established through the Community Prosecution Program, a part of the Legal Department with the City of Port Arthur, is funded with a grant obtained through the Department of Justice. The need for twenty-five laptop computers would put TEEN COURT-Port Arthur at the forefront of innovative court proceedings. With laptops stationed in the jury box, prosecutor's table, defense table, court clerk's desk and the judge's bench; we could have court proceedings that will allow other teen courts to observe our sessions and render an appropriate verdict.
