Mobile lab from Beaumont Foundation of America
I have requested a Community Grant from the Beaumont
Foundation of America. This grant consist of 1 (one) Standard
Mobile Lab. This lab contains 24 (twenty-four) Toshiba laptop
computers.
I have applied for these laptop computers to be incorporated in
TEEN COURT sessions. It is my desire and those working
with TEEN COURT, that we will have the ability to have our
court sessions linked with other courts across the country.
This web conference will allow the other courts to view our
process as well as giving us insight on the verdict. There are
four structural models for youth courts. Each court model
uses a different method to render verdict for each case.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The goal of TEEN COURT is to have every court session interactive
with the many youth courts across the country. We anticipate being
linked with at least forty youth courts throughout the United States.
ACTIVITIES OF SUPPORT
We have twenty computer literate participants and forty-five
volunteers. We have solicited and received assistance from the
Information Manager with the City of Port Arthur. We are in the
process of developing a web site.
COLLABORATIONS
The collaboration we have formed are as follows: Charles &
Associates--Counseling, Boys and Girls Club, Ventures Youth
Organization, Port Arthur Housing Authority, Port Arthur Independent
School District, Stillwell Technical Center, Salvation Army--Port,
Trinity Baptist Church and Harvest Time Bible Church,
MANAGEMENT
Court Coordinator has a degree as a Legal Assistant with ten years of
office experience. Court Judge is an Assistant District Attorney with
Jefferson County's District Attorney's office, with eight years of
service. Court clerk has an Associate degree in Office Administration
with more that ten years service with the City of Port Arthur.
EVALUATION
The objective in our evaluation process is to receive data from the
different types of youth court settings that wilt have rendered a verdict
in our on-line cases, to show that the punishment process should be
more unified across the country.
BUDGET AND SUSTAINABILITY
TEEN COURT-Port Arthur has been established through the
Community Prosecution Program, a part of the Legal Department
with the City of Port Arthur, is funded with a grant obtained through
the Department of Justice. The need for twenty-five laptop
computers would put TEEN COURT-Port Arthur at the forefront of
innovative court proceedings. With laptops stationed in the jury box,
prosecutor's table, defense table, court clerk's desk and the judge's
bench; we could have court proceedings that will allow other teen
courts to observe our sessions and render an appropriate verdict.
