Background: The Port Arthur Fire Department applied for the 2021 Motiva First Responder Grant Program in October of 2021 seeking funds to assist with the replacement and purchase of Positive Pressure Ventilation fans in the department. In December of 2021 the Port Arthur Fire Department received correspondence from Motiva that they were to be awarded $4,850.00 from the 2021 Motiva First Responder Grant Program to purchase a battery powered Positive Pressure Ventilation fan. Budget Impact: There will be no fiscal impact on the budget. These funds will be deposited in City of Port Arthur Account Number 107-00-000-4530-00-00-000 for the purchase a battery powered Positive Pressure Ventilation fan. Recommendation: It is recommended that City Council authorize the Fire Department to accept the grant from the Motiva 2021 First Responder Grant Program in the amount of$4,850.00, as discussed and/or outlined above. WHEREAS , the Port Arthur Fire Department applied for the 2021 Motiva First Responder Grant Program in October of 2021 "Exhibit A"; and WHEREAS, the Port Arthur Fire Department received correspondence from Motiva in December of 2021 that they were to be awarded $4, 850 from the 2021 Motiva First Responder Grant Program to purchase a Positive Pressure Ventilation fan "Exhibit B"; and WHEREAS , the Port Arthur Fire Department received a check from the 2021 Motiva First Responder Grant Program on this date in the amount of $4, 850 for the purchase a Positive Pressure Ventilation fan; and WHEREAS, the funds will be deposited in City of Port Arthur Account Number 107-00-000-4530-00-00-000 . The Port Arthur Fire Department has been chosen to receive a grant of $4,850 from the Motiva 2021 First Responder Grant program. One of Motiva's core values is to "Do the Right Thing" and supporting organizations like yours which contribute so much toward the safety of the community is one way for us to put that value into practice. We hope this contribution will have a lasting, measurable impact as it increases the safety and preparedness of local first responders.
