RECOMMENDATION:
Equipment Services Division recommends that the City Council approve payment of $5,452.70 .
to Smart's Truck and Trailer for repairs to equipment #1596, a 2006 GMC Trash Truck w/
Grapple. The repair cost will be expensed to the fiscal year 2009 Public Works-Solid Waste
Trash Division Equipment Maintenance account # 403-1272-533.43-00.
BACKGROUND:
The unit was brought to the attention of the garage as having problems with the engine. Upon
inspection, we found that the engine was not firing on all cylinders and was towed to the
Caterpillar engine dealer. Their evaluation revealed that the engine had defective fuel injectors.
Smart's Truck and Trailer has assessed the unit and provided the following cost to repair:
Smart's Truck and Trailer of Beaumont, Texas ................................$5,452.70
BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT:
The repair cost will be expensed to the fiscal yeaz 2009 Public Works-Solid Waste Trash
Division account #403-1272-533.43-00.
