A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A PROPERTY DONATION FROM JOYCE BODIN FOR THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1900 6TH STREET WHEREAS,property owner,Joyce A. Bodin has expressed her interest in donating a vacant tract of land legally described as Lot 6,Block 185 in the City of Port Arthur Addition,more commonly known 1900 6th Street to the City of Port Arthur; and WHEREAS,the necessary due diligence has been performed on the property and the City considers the land to be free clear of any defects and deemed beneficial for acceptance. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: SECTION 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. SECTION 2. The Lot is a standard size lot (50' x 140'); therefore, permitted for residential development. I explained to Ms. Bodin that the City sometimes conveys property to the Housing Authority or its CHODO for residential development. She stated that she understood and did not oppose this use. The City Manager and I conducted a site visit of the proposed site, and the Manager is interested in accepting the said gift if it is free and clear of all liens or other legal hindrances. Per our discussion today, please proceed with obtaining a title report/insurance on said property. If the report provides sufficient information indicating there are no concerns with the land, the City Manager would like to move forward with accepting the conveyance.
