I. INVOCATION, PLEDGE & ROLL CALL
Councilmember Henderson gave the invocation followed with the pledge to the flag.
The City Council of the City of Port Arthur met in Special Session on Tuesday, May 5,
2009 at 2:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, with the following members
present: Mayor Deloris "Bobbie" Prince; Councilmembers Elizabeth "Liz" Segler, Morris
Albright, III, Robert E. "Bob" Williamson and Thomas J. °Tom" Henderson; City
Manager Steve Fitrgibbons, Assistant City Secretary Sherri Bellard, City Attorney Mark
T. Sokolow and Sergeant At Arms Chief of Police Mark Blanton.
Councilmember Martin Flood joined the Special Meeting at 2:45 p.m.
Mayor Pro Tem Jack Chatman, Jr. joined the Special Meeting at 3:20 p.m.
Councilmember Dawana K. Wise was absent from the Special Meeting
Councilmember John Beard, Jr. was absent from the Special Meeting.
II. DISCUSSION
To Discuss The Value And Usage Of City Improvements And
Buildings (Requested By Mayor Prince)
The City Manager reported on plans to implement emergency backup power for city
buildings by installing gas powered generators.
Civic Center Director Adam Saunders appeared before the City Council to address
inquiries related to the Department Club's renovations and ADA (American's with
Disabilities Act) compliance concerns. The Civic Center Director reported on the Robert
A. "Bob" Bowers Civic Center's rental policies, seating capacity, maintenance costs and
staffing availability.
III. ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING
Upon the motion of Mayor Pro Tem Chatman seconded by Councilmember Flood and
carried unanimously, the City Council adjourned their meeting at 3:42 p.m.
An audio-tape of this meeting is on file in the office of the City Secretary and is made a
part of the official minutes of this meeting.
