ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 78 (PERSONNEL),
DIVISION V (ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE), SECTION 78-184(a)
(HOLIDAYS) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PORT
ARTHUR, TEXAS, BY ADDING JUNETEENTH AS A PAID HOLIDAY
(REQUESTED BY COUNCILMEMBER MOSES)
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Port Arthur to add Juneteenth as a paid holiday.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
Section 2. That Section 78-184(a) of the Code of Ordinances is herein amended
as follows:
"Sec. 78-184. - Holidays.
(a) The following holidays shall be declared official paid holidays for
probationary and regular city employees: New Year's Day, Martin Luther
King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day,
Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving,
and Christmas Day."
Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Ordinance be spread upon the
Minutes of the City Council.
Section 4. That the ordinance shall be effective immediately.
READ, ADOPTED AND APPROVED on this day of May A.D., 2022, at a
Meeting of the City Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, by the following vote: AYES:
