BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to Resolution No. 09-135, the City of Port Arthur entered into a contract with
Savannah Housing Authority for site preparation and new construction of two properties.
Attached is P. R. No. 15357 authorizing the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to
the contract allowing Savannah Housing Corporation to increase the site preparation and
new construction from two to three properties.
BUDGETARY/FISCAL EFFECT: There will be no adjustment to the funds previously
provided.
SUMMARY: I recommend the City Council adopt Proposed Resolution 15357, authorizing
the execution of Amendment No. 1 to the contract between the City of Port Arthur for site
preparation and as to increase new construction to three properties located on Texas
Avenue in Sunnyland Addition.

RESOLUTION NUMBER
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE AMENDMENT N0.1 TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR AND SAVANNAH HOUSING
CORPORATION AS TO INCREASE THE SITE PREPARATION
AND AUTHORIZING CONSTRUCTION TO THREE (3)
NEW HOMES FOR MODERATE INCOME PERSONS/
FAMILIES IN THE CITY.
WHEREAS, PURSUANT TO Resolution 09-135, the City of Port Arthur entered
into a contract with Savannah Housing Corporation or site preparation and new
construction of two properties; and,
Whereas, it is deemed viable to amend the contract as to complete three
properties instead of two to benefit low and moderate income persons/families as has been
determined by the parties.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ARTHUR:
THAT the City Manager is authorized to execute Amendment No. 1 to the
contract with Savannah Housing Corp. as to increase the site preparation and authorizing
new construction from two to three properties, as delineated in Exhibit "A".
THAT a,copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of
the City Council.

EXHIBIT A
AMENDMENT ONE TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR AND SAVANNAH HOUSING CORPORATION
Section 3. CHDO'S PERFORMANCE
The CHDO shall acquire, land, perform site clearance and construct three (3) new homes
with projected sales prices of $95,000 to $100,000 and house plans of 1200 sq. ft. to 1400
sq.ft. in the next twelve (12) months for low and moderate income persons/families.
