Purchasing Manager RE: PR 22675—Garbage Truck Rental Services Introduction: The City recommends that the City Council approve the one-year contract for the rental of garbage truck service from RDK Assets, Inc. of Tampa Florida for a not to exceed amount of$192,000. Background: Due to the equipment breakdown, and long lead times from delivery of parts to repair these vehicles,the city will rent garbage trucks to maintain garbage routes until the vehicles are repaired. Bid were advertised on May 20, 2022 and May 27, 2022 and opened on June 15, 2022. One bid was received by RDK Assets, Inc. The bid of$8,000 per month is less than the $9,100 previously with Premier Truck Sales & Rentals, Inc. Currently, the Public Works Department needs two trucks. Budget Impact: The funding will be charged to ARP010.GRE.RNT Recommendation: The City recommends that the City Council approve the one-year contract for the rental of garbage truck service from RDK Assets, Inc. of Tampa, Florida for not to exceed amount of$192,000. A RESOLUTION AWARDING A BID AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH RDK ASSETS INC. OF TAMPA, FLORIDA FOR GARBAGE TRUCK RENTAL SERVICES IN THE NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT OF $192,000 .00; FUNDING IS AVAILABLE IN ARPA ACCOUNT NO. 169-07-015-5401-40-000. PROJECT NO. ARP010-GRE-RNT. WHEREAS, the contract for rental of garbage trucks was advertised on May 20, 2022 and May 27, 2022 in the Port Arthur News; and WHEREAS, one (1) bid was received and opened on June 22, 2022 attached as Exhibit "A" and have been evaluated by the Public Works staff; and, WHEREAS, due to vehicle breakdown and long delivery time for parts two garbage truck are currently needed for renting; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and, THAT, the City Council of the City of Port Arthur hereby awards the bid for emergency truck rental services to RDK Assets of Tampa, Florida in the not to exceed amount of $192,000; and, THAT, the City Manager of the City of Port Arthur is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City, a contract between the City of Port Arthur and RDK Assets, Inc. in the projected budgetary amount of$192,000 for the rental of garbage trucks, in substantially the same form attached hereto as Exhibit "B"; and, THAT, a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
