The intent of this Agenda Item is to seek the City Council's approval to accept a quote from Gulf Coast Electric Co., Inc. for the repair of lighting at 501 Procter Street. Background: On May 24, 2022 there was a severe weather event with significant lightning. This event caused damages to the EDC Office Building located at 501 Procter Street. There were three power surges and numerous popping sounds throughout the building. As a result of these power surges numerous lights/ballast were blown. For the safety of tenants these lights must be restored. PAEDC reached out to A&A Electric Co., Gulf Coast Electric, and Jefferson Electric to acquire quotes. Each were returned with varying specifications. PAEDC reached out again to each respective company providing specific guidelines to provide a quote. A&A Electric Co. and Gulf Coast Electric provided quotes both containing the requested specifications. Gulf Coast Electric's quote is the lower of the two quotes received. Budget Impact: The budgetary impact of this item is $6.750.00. Funds are available in EDC Account No. 120-80- 625-5312-00-00-000. This charge will be paid by PAEDC however, an insurance claim has been filed with Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool (TMLIRP) via the City of Port Arthur policy. TMLIRP has advised once repairs are made reimbursement will be issued. Recommendation: It is recommended that the City of Port Arthur City Council approves the acceptance of the quote from Gulf Coast Electric Co., Inc. for the repair of lighting at 501 Procter Street. OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS FOR ELECTRICAL LIGHTING REPAIRS AT 501 PROCTER STREET BY THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR TYPE A ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $6,750.00. FUNDS AVAILABLE IN EDC ACCOUNT NO. 120- 80-625-5312-00-00-000 WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur Type A Economic Development Corporation (PAEDC) owns the property located at 501 Procter Street, Port Arthur, Texas, and has the commitment to maintain the safety and integrity of said premises; and WHEREAS,on May 24, 2022,there was a severe weather event with significant lightning causing three power surges to the PAEDC Office Building located at 501 Procter Street, and as a result of these power surges,numerous electrical fixtures/ballasts were blown; and WHEREAS, for the safety of the tenants,these fixtures must be restored; and WHEREAS, PAEDC acquired quotes from A&A Electric Co., Gulf Coast Electric, and Jefferson Electric and each returned a quote with varying specifications; and WHEREAS,PAEDC contacted each respective company providing specific guidelines to provide a quote, and A&A Electric Co. and Gulf Coast Electric provided quotes both containing the requested specifications, with Gulf Coast Electric's quote being the lower of the two quotes received per Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, at their August 8, 2022 Board Meeting, the PAEDC Board of Directors approved accepting the Gulf Coast Electric Co., Inc. quote in the amount of$6,750.00, and WHEREAS, PAEDC has filed a claim for the damages to the property at 501 Procter Street with Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool (TMLIRP), and has been advised by TMLIRP that they will provide a reimbursement of expenses related to said claim,once repairs are completed. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the City Council approves PAEDC accepting the quote of Gulf Coast Electric Co., Inc. in the amount of$6,750.00 for the repair of lighting at 501 Procter Street. Section 3.
