R. No. 22776 authorizing the City Manager to change Pleasure Island Marina's monthly rates to $280.00 for 30-foot boat slips, $315.00 for 40-foot boat slips, $460.00 for 50-foot boat slips and $565.00 for boat slips over 50 feet. Background: An audit on Pleasure Island was performed in 2021 and the findings were prepared and presented to the City Manager and staff. A Marina Rate Comparison was performed comparing Pleasure Island's current rates to five other marinas in the area. Pleasure Island's rates are significantly lower and have not been increased in many years. It is necessary to increase the rates in order to be in line with most marinas in the area which will also increase the department's revenue. Budget Impact: None Recommendation: It is recommended that the City Council approve P. R.No. 22776 authorizing the City Manager to change Pleasure Island Marina's monthly rates to $280.00 for 30-foot boat slips, $315.00 for 40-foot boat slips, $460.00 for 50-foot boat slips and $565.00 for boat slips over 50 feet. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MODIFY THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR PLEASURE ISLAND MARINA'S MONTHLY BOAT SLIP RENTAL RATE SCHEDULE WHEREAS, an assessment of the City of Port Arthur Pleasure Island Marina's revealed that the current boat slip rental schedule is obsolete; and WHEREAS, a rate comparison, attached hereto as Exhibit "A", revealed that the Marina's current monthly rental rates are significantly lower than other marinas and that the rates have not been increased in many years; and WHEREAS,the Pleasure Island Department is recommending that the current rate scheduled be modified by removing "the monthly rate from $6.00 per foot of the boat length, with a minimum of$175.00 for Port Arthur Yacht Club members; and $7.00 per foot of the boat length, with a minimum of$200.00 for non-Port Arthur Yacht Club members" fees and replaced with the following newly proposed schedule: $280.00 for 30-foot boat slips; $315.00; for 40-foot boat slips; $460.00 for 50-foot boat slips; and $565.00 for boat slips over 50 feet; and, WHEREAS, the modification to fee schedule and rental rates will be consistent and competitive with most marinas in the area; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR,TEXAS: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to remove the current rental rate schedule and replaced with the following: 30-foot boat slips: $280.00 40-foot boat slips: $315.00 50-foot boat slips: $460.00 Boat slips over 50 feet: $565.00 Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
