RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING AND/OR REAPPOINTING A
MEMBER OR MEMBERS TO THE PORT ARTHUR POLICE CHIEF
ADVISORY COMMITTEE (REQUESTED BY MAYOR BARTIE)
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 17-05 created the Port Arthur Police Chief Advisory
Committee; and
WHEREAS, membership to the Committee is composed of Port Arthur citizens;
and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and each Councilmember shall select two (2) Port Arthur
citizens to serve as members on the Police Chief Advisory Committee. Each member
shall serve a term of one year. If a member cannot serve a complete term, they shall
be replaced. The Councilmember who selected this member shall select another citizen
to serve the remainder of the term; and
WHEREAS, the scope of duties of the Police Chief Advisory Committee is
delineated in the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 14, Section 14-28, and in Ordinance No.
17-05; and
WHEREAS, the makeup of the Committee is delineated in Exhibit"A"; and
WHEREAS, the Committee's structure, meeting times, and location, will be
coordinated by the Chief of Police; and
WHEREAS, the term of Melanie Ned, Committee Member appointed by Mayor
Bartle, has expired and the Mayor wishes to reappoint Melanie Ned; and
WHEREAS, Rev. Kalan Gardner, Committee Member for District 2, has resigned,
and Councilmember Jones wishes to appoint Tieranny Decuir to his unexpired term.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
Section 2. That the following persons shall therefore be members of the
Police Chief Advisory Committee, as delineated in Exhibit"B" attached hereto.
READ, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED this day of
2022 at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, by the
