Background: The Public Works — Drainage Division grades and maintains miles of ditches and canals throughout the City. The slope tractor mower removes difficult-to-access grass and brush from the ditches and canals. The following are specifications for the existing equipment that will be replaced. Equip. Recommendation: It is recommended that the City of Port Arthur's City Council approve PR number 22905 authorizing the City Manager to purchase a John Deere 6145M Cab Tractor for the Drainage Division from Brookside Equipment Sales, Inc. of Houston, Texas, for$224,888.56. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) SLOPE TRACTOR MOWER FOR THE DRAINAGE DIVISION FROM BROOKSIDE EQUIPMENT SALES, INC. OF HOUSTON, TEXAS, THROUGH THE BUYBOARD COOPERATIVE PURCHASING PROGRAM FOR THE NOT-TO-EXCEED AMOUNT OF $224,888.56. FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE IN ACCOUNT NUMBER 625-21-000-8522-00-00-000 WHEREAS, the Public Works Department Drainage Division routinely uses a slope mower to maintain grass and light brush on level ground as well as steep slopes throughout the City's drainage channels; and, WHEREAS, slope tractor mower 2026 has consistent issues caused by flooding in Hurricane Harvey, rendering the machinery inoperable; and, WHEREAS,the City Council approved the replacement of one(1)slope tractor mower in its 2022-2023 fiscal year budget; and, WHEREAS, Chapter 271 of the Texas Government Code allows a city, by resolution of its governing body, to participate in cooperative purchasing programs such as the BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program; and, WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur entered into an interlocal agreement for cooperative purchasing with the BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program through Resolution 02-341; and, WHEREAS,Brookside Equipment Sales,Inc. of Houston,Texas,is part of the BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program under contract number 611-20 and submitted a competitive quote for one (1) John Deere 6145M Cab Tractor for $224,888.56 attached hereto as Exhibit A; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT,the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and, PR 22905 11/4/2022 FCR/LU Page 2 of 3 THAT,the City Manager of the City of Port Arthur is hereby authorized to purchase one (1)John Deere 6145M Cab Tractor from Brookside Equipment Sales,Inc. of Houston, Texas, for $224,888.56 through the BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program; and, THAT,funding for this purchase is available in the Capital Reserve Fund Account,account number 625-21-000-8522-00-00-000; and, THAT, a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
