Basic Life Support: BLS provides that fundamental basic care within the scope of an EMT. From oxygen administration to basic airway and splinting interventions, the EMT is able to stabilize
and transport a lower acuity of patients. BLS ambulances are equipped with an AED to deliver early intervention and defibrillation to the heart in life threatening rhythms. All BLS
ambulances are staffed with two EMTs who perform within the scope of practice set by the TXDHS for EMT level of care.
Advanced Life Support: ALS providers provide care in accordance to the scope of practice of a Paramedic. ALS care provides more invasive and complete EMS care. The paramedic can administer
multiple IV medications to ensure the stabilization and management of the complex patient. Paramedics manage higher acuity patients who require cardiac monitoring and/or IV medication
administration. Paramedics can monitor and continue blood products. ALS care also includes a wide variety of vasoactive medication to ensure the stability of acute patients. Paramedics
can also perform advanced airway interventions.
Critical Care Transport: CCT transports provide the ICU level of care in the mobile unit. The CCT team brings the ICU to you. With a large variety of medications and interventions, this
team can manage any complex patient. CCT transports are staffed with a minimum of at least One credentialed Critical Care Provider who provide the highest level of Care possible. At
CAS our CCT program is directed and monitored by a Board Certified Critical Care and Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician, who maintains the highest level of training and management.
At CAS it is our mission to ensure every patient has access to the highest level of care in transport
