History Of Service In Port Arthur
Since 2006, Acadian Ambulance has provided emergency and non-emergency ambulance
services to the City of Port Arthur and its residents. Port Arthur and Southeast Texas were part
of our first Texas service area, and many of our employees have deep ties to the area.
In 2010, Acadian became the only permitted provider to service the Citizens of Port Arthur.
We pride ourselves in working with the local emergency management to continue this
partnership for many years.
Over the last 16 years, Acadian has responded to approximately 15,505 calls annually which
results in over 250,000 calls collectively.

Capabilities and Footprint
We operate a front-line fleet of 42 ambulances, 1 Ambus, Supervisor
vehicles and wheelchair vans. Our local management team is on duty
24/7. We employ over 300 people in the Southeast Texas Region, many
being Port Arthur residents
Our regional footprint, all under the direction of Vice
President Eric Thibodeaux, has over 500 employees and
over 100 ambulances.
This resource capacity allows us to provide internal
backup, respond to disasters with area strike teams and to
utilize outside help when needed. With this footprint,
Acadian is able to pull medics and resources across from
other areas quickly as a self mutual-aide. Over the past
16 years, Acadian has utilized this plan multiple times for
the City of Port Arthur and placed employees at local
staging sites during major events.
Community Partnership
In partnership with the Port Arthur EDC & Port
Arthur ISD, Acadian has hosted an EMT school for
the citizens and are working to schedule additional
classes in the future.
Acadian maintains our National EMS Academy
campus in the area and has expanded our reach
with hiring programs for all citizens!
Throughout the 16+ years, the local
team of Acadian Ambulance, has
supported local municipalities in
various ways.

Commitment to the Community
The leadership team of Acadian Ambulance believes that we should do more than just exist in a
community. Acadian believes we should make commitments to the communities we serve;
Acadian has continued to meet this commitment to bring educational and employment
opportunities to the citizens of Port Arthur.
Community Involvement
Giving back to the communities we serve has been at the foundation
of Acadian Ambulance for 50 years and we look forward to continuing
that tradition in Port Arthur for many years to come. During the past
16 years, Acadian has donated hundreds of hours annually to non-
profit organizations for free standbys at community events.
Southeast Texas Dispatch Center
Acadian’s Southeast Texas Communications Center,
located on the top floor of the main office on Corley
Street in Beaumont, is staffed 24 hours a day, seven
days a week. The center’s 40 employees are
required to maintain Certification in Emergency
Medical Dispatch (EMD).
The Beaumont center is strategically located a safe distance
from the Gulf of Mexico and any potential threat of a storm
surge. It hosts numerous consoles with several dedicated to
Southeast Texas.
Since 2006, Acadian has offered to The City of Port Arthur
Dispatch Center to utilize the Comm Center in the event of
the center to be transferred due to an emergency situation.
Critical Care Transport
CCT units provide a higher level of
care for critically ill or injured patients
and are equipped to re-create the ICU
environment. They are staffed with
paramedics with specialized training
and certification, including Advanced
Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric
Advanced Life Support and
Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support. The
program is overseen by its own
medical director, Dr. Rosemary St.
Clergy.
The specialized equipment on CCT
units includes:
Multi-Med pumps
BiPAP, Eagle and pressure-support
ventilators
Extensive drug inventory
Capability for full hemodynamic
monitoring
Bariatric Transports
Acadian uses bariatric units to transport
patients weighing up to 915 pounds.
Each bariatric ambulance includes: An extra-wide stretcher A reinforced ramp A winch system
The equipment is designed to help medics
safely load and unload patients and
maintain their comfort and dignity.
Each bariatric unit also carries a specially
designed tarp that allows first responders
to maneuver larger patients out of
confined spaces. Because a bariatric
transport requires additional crews, all of
our medics receive extensive training on
how to use the specialized equipment.
Neonatal and Pediatric
Transport
Acadian is an experienced, highly
qualified provider of specialty
transports of neonatal and pediatric
patients. We provide NICU/PICU team
transport services for a number of
hospital systems across the state.
We make special accommodations
based on need, including: Medical air and oxygen Special regulators Isolette brackets Stryker power stretchers
All of this is done to ensure that our
tiniest patients receive the best
possible care.
