Notice is hereby given in accordance with the revi~sed Civil Statues and the
Zoning Ordinance of the City of Port Arthur that the City Council of the City
of Port Arthur will hold a Public Heating on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at 9:00
a.m. in the Port Arthur City Hall Council Chamber, 444th Street, to consider the
following:

REQUEST:
The applicant is requesting that the property located the southeast comer of Smith Street
and Roosevelt be rezoned from Single Family Residemial to Light Commercial.
BACKGROUND:
The applicant proposes to operate a prepared food service business at this location. At a
future time the applicant proposes to repair trucks and trailers.
PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
The Planning and Zoning Commission met on Monday, May 19, 2003 and recommended
that this request be denied. They felt that the proposed use would not be appropriate for
this area due to the narrowness of the roads and the fact that this is a residential
neighborhood. They also felt that the proposed rezoning could be considered spot
zoning.
