DOJ Base Equipment Grant
RESOLUTION NUMBER
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTIC~ BASE
EQUIPMENT GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $123,695 FROM THE TEXAS
ENGINEERING EXTENSION SERVICE WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
ALLOCATING HOMELAND SECURITY GRANTS EOl~ WEAPONS OF
MASS DESTRUCTION INCIDENTS.
WHEREAS, the Mayor received an invitation to become eligible to share in
approximately $15,000,000 of Department of Justice equip~ment funding that Texas
received to improve response capability in the event'~of a Weapons of Mass
Destruction incident; and,
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief was made the Point of Contact for the 197 page
grant vulnerability assessment and equipment request; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor has received notification from the Southeast Texas
Regional Planning Commission that $123,695 has been approved; and,
WHEREAS, the grant funds will provide funding for Gas Masks, a generator,
a mobile antenna & repeater, medications, and decontamination and hazardous
materials response equipment; Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ARTHUR:
THAT, the City Council authorizes the acceptance of the Department of
Justice grant in the amount of $123,695 for base equipment,
THAT, the City Attorney shall review and approve the Grant Articles before
the funds are received,
THAT, a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of
the City Council.
READ, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this day of

Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas by the following vote:
