RE: PR 23245—Resolution Authorizing the Chief of Police to issue a Wrecker
Business Permit to A.C. Towing &Transport located at 331 Augusta Avenue,
Port Arthur, Texas
Introduction:
The intent of this Agenda Item is to seek the City Council's approval to authorize the Chief of
Police to issue a wrecker business permit to A.C. Towing&Transport located at 331 Augusta
Avenue, Port Arthur, Texas.
Background:
A.C. Towing•& Transport has applied for a wrecker business permit pursuant to Section 114-
124 of the Code of Ordinances. Aaron Campbell the owner/operator of A.C. Towing&
Transport has been in business for several years, and is licensed by the State of Texas (TDLR)
for Wrecker Operation. He has made application for a business permit, and his intent is to be
added to the Non-Preference Wrecker rotation system.
Budget Impact:
None
Recommendation:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the Chief of Police to issue a wrecker
business permit to A.C. Towing&Transport located at 331 Augusta Ave.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO ISSUE A
WRECKER BUSINESS PERMIT TO A.C. TOWING AND TRANSPORT
LOCATED AT 331 AUGUSTA AVENUE, PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS
WHEREAS, A. C. Towing and Transport has applied for a
Wrecker Business Permit pursuant to Section 114-124 of the
Code of Ordinances; and
WHEREAS, A.C. Towing and Transport has provided that (1)
it has available equipment to tow vehicles in the City, (2)
that it has drivers in the area, (3) that it has experience
towing vehicles, (4) that it has experience or the ability to
meet the expected response time at any time of the day or
night and in any type of inclement weather, and (5) that the
owner and investors of the business as well as the drivers
can be entrusted with promptly towing vehicles without damage
thereto, securing the vehicle contents, making and filing
accurate records thereof, able to follow the towing
regulations and bill properly.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble
are true and correct .
Section 2 . That the Applicant shall be subject to a
six-month probationary period as provided from Section 114-
123 of the Code of Ordinances .
Section 3 . That the Chief of Police is hereby authorized
to issue a Wrecker Business Permit to A. C. Towing & Transport
upon payment of permit fees .
Section 4 . That A. C. Towing & Transport shall be placed
on the non-preference rotation system as provided by Section
114-141 .
Section 5 . That a copy of the caption of the Resolution
be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council .
