City Council is being asked to
consider an abandonment request for
a 0.1377-acre of land consisting of a
dedicated portion of an alley right-of-
way,located in Block 180,City of
Port Arthur,Jefferson County,Texas
Background…
May 16, 2023 –Application for the abandonment was submitted to the Planning Division.
June 16, 2023 –Public Notice published in Port Arthur Newspaper/notification sent to adjacent property owners within 200 ft.
A public hearing was held by the Planning and Zoning Commission on June 26, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. The item was tabled due to citizens concerns. On July 17, 2023, the tabled item came before the P&Z Commission at it’s 5:30 Meeting
The Planning Commission voted 5:0 recommending approval of said request.
On June 20, 2023, -City Council approved Res. No. 23-275,calling for a public hearing.
July 1, 2023 -Notification was published in the Port Arthur Newspaper.
Purpose…The purpose of the abandonment is to
allow for the continued development of
the college campus (i.e.,construction
of a new Allied Health Facility).
