Freeman, Housing &Neighborhood Revitalization Manager RE: Proposed Resolution No. 23265 Nature of Request: The Housing Division recommends City Council reject the bids for constructing three(3)single- family homes for eligible low and moderate-income families. Staff Analysis/Considerations: Five(5)bids were received and opened on Wednesday,February 15,2023,for constructing three (3) single-family homes. The proposals were evaluated by the Purchasing Manager and the Housing Division. The bids received exceeded the estimated cost. Due to the high bids received for constructing the homes, rejecting and re-bid for more reasonable construction costs is recommended. Housing believes after researching that the City will receive lower bids on this project. Budget Consideration: N/A RECOMMENDATION: The Housing Division recommends City Council authorize the City Manager to execute Proposed Resolution No.23265 authorizing the rejection of bids for constructing three(3)single- family homes. P.R. 23265 7/17/23 BAF RESOLUTION NUMBER A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO REJECT THE BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THREE (3) SINGLE-FAMILY HOMES. WHEREAS, on February 15, 2023, five (5) bids were received, opened, and evaluated by the Purchasing and Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization Division, as shown in the bid tabulation attached as Exhibit "A": and. WHEREAS, due to the unreasonably high costs to construct the homes, the bids will be rejected and submitted for re-bidding by the Purchasing Division. NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to reject the bids in substantially the same form, attached hereto as Exhibit "A." Section 2. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
