Background: The Health Department heavily relies on network services for daily operations.Network switches are required to provide data and voice network services. Budget Impact: Enterprise Systems can provide Extreme switches through the Texas Department of Information Resources cooperative contract#DIR-TSO-4339 for $51,850.48. Funds are available in the Information Technology IT Equipment Account#001-09-023-5241-00-10- 000-. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE SIX EXTREME 5420M NETWORK SWITCHES FROM ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS OF HOUSTON, TX THROUGH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION RESOURCES CONTRACT NO. DIR-TSO-4339 IN THE AMOUNT OF $51,850.48. FUNDING AVAILABLE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IT EQUIPMENT ACCOUNT 001-09-023-5241-00-10-000-. WHEREAS, network services are essential to the daily operations of the Health Department; and WHEREAS, Texas Department of Information Resources has established a data cooperative contract for the purchase of Extreme Network branded equipment; and WHEREAS, Chapter 271 of the Local Government Code allows a city, by resolution of its governing body,to participate in cooperative purchasing programs as an alternative to a formal bid process; and WHEREAS, Enterprise Systems can provide six Extreme 5420M switches through the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) contract number DIR-TSO-4339 for $51,850.48; and WHEREAS,quote#003305 is attached as "Exhibit A". NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That, the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to purchase six Extreme 5420M network switches for an amount not to exceed $51,850.48 from Enterprise Systems through the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Contract Number DIR- TSO-4439. Funds available in the Information Technology IT Equipment account 001-09-023- 5241-00-10-000-. Section 3.
