RECOMMENDATION:
Equipment Services Division recommends that the City Council approve payment of $8,112.47
to `Philpott Ford' for engine repairs to Pick-up Truck #1504, a 2003 Ford F-350 truck used in the
daily operations by Water Distribution Division. The repair cost will be expensed to the fiscal
year 2009 Utilities Department-Water Distribution Division Motor Vehicle Maintenance account
#410-1253-532.43-00.
BACKGROUND:
The Water Distribution Division informed the Shop Foreman that truck engine would not run.
Upon inspection, it was determined that the engine had sustained severe damage due to
overheating and requires rebuilding. (T/:is procurement is exempt from t/:e bid process under Texas Local
Government Code Section 252.022, General Exemptions (7A), a procurement of items t/:at are available from
only one source, including items that are available from one source because of patents, copyrig/tts, secret
processes, or natural monopolies.) The Ford dealership was contacted for an estimate to repair the
engine and their estimate returned as follows:
Philpott Ford of Nederland, Tx ......................................$8,112.47
BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT:
The repair cost will be expensed to the fiscal year 2009 Utilities Department account #410-1253-
532.43-00.
