allow the Fire Department to apply for the Motiva First Responders Grant.
introduction:
The intent of this Agenda Item is to seek the City Council's approval for the City Manager to
allow the Fire Department to apply for Motiva's First Responder Grant.
Background:
The Motiva First Responders Grant Program was developed to assist emergency response
organizations in communities that host Motiva Facilities. The program awards a grant up to
$10,000 for safety equipment, professional training, or safety education programs to
organizations invited to apply, including fire departments, police departments,and emergency
management organizations.
Budget Impact:
There is no cash match for this program.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that City Council authorize the City Manager to allow the Fire
Department approval to apply for Motiva's First Responders Grant,as discussed and/or
outlined above.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ALLOW THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR A GRANT
FROM MOTIVA' S 2023 FIRST RESPONDER GRANT PROGRAM,
WITH NO CASH MATCH, IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000 .00
FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) POSITIVE PRESSURE
VENTILATION FANS.
WHEREAS, Motiva First Responder Grant Program was
developed to assist emergency response organization in
communities that host Motiva Facilities; and
WHEREAS, the program awards a grant up to $10, 000 for
safety equipment, professional training, or safety programs to
organizations invited to apply; and
WHEREAS, there is no cash match requirement for the
grant; and
WHEREAS, additional information on this grant program is
attached as Exhibit "A" .
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1 . That the facts and opinions in the preamble are
true and correct .
Section 2 . That the City Council authorizes the City
Manager to allow the Fire Department to apply for the 2023 Motiva
First responder Grant Program.
Section 3 . That a copy of the Resolution shall be spread
upon the Minutes of the City Council .

At Motiva, safety is the heart of our operations. For the third year in a row, we're
proud to offer our community grant program designed to support organizations
that help keep our communities safe.
The Motiva First Responder Grant Program has been developed
to assist emergency response organizations in communities
that host Motiva facilities. The program is awarding grants of
up to $10,000 for safety equipment, professional training, or
'safety education programs that help first responders better
serve their communities
