A RESOLUTION CASTING VOTES FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE ORANGE COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT FOR THE TERM ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2024 WHEREAS, the terms of the Orange County Appraisal District Board of Directors expire on Decembers 31, 2023; and, WHEREAS, on August 29, 2023 (pursuant to Resolution No. 23-351), the City Council cast votes for nominations to the Orange County Appraisal District and submitted one name for consideration; and, WHEREAS, all five (5) positions on the Board of Directors are up for re-election for the 2023-2024 term of office; and, WHEREAS, based on 2022 Tax Levies, the City Council has 49 votes allocated; and, WHEREAS, the Council can cast all of its 49 votes for one candidate or distribute them among the other candidates; and, WHEREAS, the following individuals are candidates for the board of directors: • Lanie Brown • Ronnie Crockett • Karen Fisher • Andy Haegguist • Dr. Gina Mannino • Dale Parish • Wayne Sparrow • Philip Welch WHEREAS, the deadline for casting votes by written resolution is on or before December 15, 2023, the official ballot is attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and, s.pr23412 WHEREAS, the term of office for the Orange County Appraisal District Board of Directors is from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024. According to the Texas Property Tax Code Section 5.13(a)(b)(c)(d) and new legislation, this year's election term will only be for the 2024 year. There will be two elections for the Orange County Appraisal District Board of Directors in 2024. One will be the regular five (5) member election that is appointed by the taxing entities with two members holding a 1-year term and three members holding a 3-year term. The other will be a general election for three (3) additional directors. These three directors shall be elected during the May 2024 general election, with an effective office date of July 1, 2024, and expires on December 31, 2026.
