RECOMMENDATION:
The Library recommends that the City Council award Contract Resource Group of Houston, TX [he bid to purchase
furniture for the Port Arthur Public Library in the amount of $23,470.03.
BACKGROUND:
Due to the age and deterioration of the current Library fumimre over the past 30 years, we recommend the
replacement of the current desks and tables used by staff and the public. The bids were received on September 16,
2009 and aze as follows:

Office Depot, Port Arthur, TX $31,808.32
Hernandez Office Supply, Nederland, TX $25,472.62
Hernandez Office Supply (Alternate Bid), Nederland, TX $23,887.05
Contract Resource Group is considered the best and lowest bid.
BUDGETARY/FISCAL EFFECT:
Funds aze available in FY09 102-1421-553.92-00 (Library Special Fund Equipment) and in FY09 001-1403-551.92-
00 (General Fund Equipment). The Library Board has approved use of the monies in the Special Fund for this
purpose.
STAFFING/EMPLOYEE EFFECT:
The staff is currently working at desks that are too small to accommodate current needs and were not designed for
[he computer era. Modem desk design allows greater flexibility for filing and computer functions. New tables will
contribute to better preparation and usage of space for public events and will assist in routine library functions.
SUMMARY:
The Library recommends that the City Council awazd Contract Resource Group of Houston, TX the bid to purchase
frniture for the Port Arthur Public Library in the amount of $23,470.03.
