"Bob"Bowers Civic Center To: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Through: Ron Burton, City Manager From: Adam J Saunders, Civic Center Dir RE: Proposed Resolution No. 23476 On August 1, 2023, the City Council approved Resolution No. 23-317 for Phase III repairs to Pompeiian Villa. When the Porte Cochere was removed it was determined additional work was needed on the roof area in order to properly receive the new structural support for the Porte Cochere. Included in this was the need to remove and replace a large section of the roof, including shingles and lathing, plywood and rakes, ridges, starters and all accessories required. This work will be Change Order No. 1. The cost of Change Order No. 1 is $11,900.00. The original cost for this work was $230,000.00. With the addition of this change order, the total amount of this work is increased to $241,900.00. Marsh Waterproofing of Vidor, Texas, has agreed to do the work for $11,900.00 out of Account No. 307-21-049-8512-00-10-000-, Project No. BU0015. ANALYSIS/CONSIDERATION: Pompeiian Villa needs additional work to the Phase III repairs due to unforeseen damages. Change Order No. 1 will take care of this additional work. BUDGETARY AND FISCAL EFFECT Funds are available in Account No. 307-21-049-8512-00-10-000, Project No. BU0015. STAFFING EFFECT None RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve the City Manager to execute Change Order No. 1 to the contract with Marsh Waterproofing of Vidor, Texas, for additional repairs at the Pompeiian Villa, in in the amount of$11,900.00. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 TO THE CONTRACT WITH MARSH WATERPROOFING OF VIDOR, TEXAS FOR ADDITIONAL REPAIRS AT THE POMPEIIAN VILLA IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,900.00 TO A NEW TOTAL OF $241,900.00. FUNDS AVAILABLE IN ACCOUNT NO. 307-21-049-8512-00-10-000,PROJECT NO. BU0015 WHEREAS, the City Council approved Resolution No. 23-317 at the August 1, 2023 Council Meeting, authorizing an agreement with Marsh Waterproofing of Vidor, Texas, for Phase III repairs at the Pompeiian Villa in the amount of$230,000.00; and, WHEREAS, it has been determined additional repairs are needed due to unforeseen damages revealed after the demolition of the area in preparation to install a new Porte Cochere; and, WHEREAS, Marsh Waterproofing of Vidor, Texas,has submitted Change Order No. 1 for this additional work in the amount of$11,900.00; and, WHEREAS, approval of Change Order No. 01 is deemed an appropriate action. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT,the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. THAT,the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute Change Order No. 1 to the contract with Marsh Waterproofing of Vidor, Texas for additional repairs at the Pompeiian Villa, in substantially the same form as attached here to Exhibit"A". THAT,the funding for saidChange Order No. 1 is $11,900.00, to a new total of $241,900.00. THAT a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
