RE: PR 23528—Authorization for the City Council to allow the City Manager to
accept the Motiva 2023 First Responders Grant.
Introduction:
The intent of this Agenda Item is to seek the City Council's approval for the City Manager to
accept the Motiva 2023 First Responders Grant in the amount of$5,000.00.
Background:
Motiva Enterprises LLC notified the City of Port Arthur that the Police Department's Motiva
2023 First Responders Grant Program request was approved for the amount of$5,000.00. This
grant allows for funds to be utilized to purchase safety equipment,professional training, or
safety education programs to assist emergency response organizations in communities that host
Motiva facilities.
Budget Impact:
There is no cash match for this program.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that the City Council authorizes the City Manager to accept the Motiva
2023 First Responders Grant in the amount of$5,000.00, as discussed and/or outlined above.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT
THE MOTIVA 2023 FIRST RESPONDERS GRANT IN THE
AMOUNT OF $5,000 .00, WITH NO CASH MATCH.
WHEREAS, on October 10, 2023, City Council passed
Resolution 23-427 authorizing the City Manager to apply for
the Motiva 2023 First Responders Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council designates the City Manager as
the grantee' s authorized official . The authorized official
is given the authority to apply for, accept, reject, or
terminate such grant funding on behalf of the City of Port
Arthur; and
WHEREAS, Motiva Enterprises LLC sent notification that
the City of Port Arthur Police Department was awarded
funding from the Motiva 2023 First Responders Grant Program
in the amount of $5, 000 . 00 as shown in Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, in order to receive the aforesaid allocation,
it is necessary that the City Manager accept the award; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department is in need of funding
and equipment to assist with emergency response; and
WHEREAS, the Motiva 2023 First Responders Grant Program
is 100% funded with no cash match requirements; and
WHEREAS, City Council finds it in the best interest of
the citizens of the City of Port Arthur that the City Manager
accept the Motiva 2023 First Responders Grant Program
funding.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1 . That the facts and opinions in the preamble
are true and correct.
Section 2 . That the City Council hereby authorizes the
City Manager to accept the Motiva 2023 First Responders Grant.

shall be spread upon the minutes of the City Council.

$5,000 from the Motiva 2023 First Responder Grant program.
